At Silicon Valley Aesthetics, we use the Spectra-Q Nd:Yag Laser to treat melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation. This laser is known as the gold standard, especially for ethnic skin.

    What is melasma?

A common skin problem, melasma results in brown patches on the face. It is most common on the forehead, chin, cheeks, and bridge of the nose, but can appear in any area that gets a lot of sun over time. It appears to be more common in women than in men.

    What can I expect?*

The technology used at our center is well-recognized in the field for being efficient, reliable, safe, and versatile.

Ten weekly treatments are used to achieve the desired results. The treatments involve gently ablating the epidermis with the laser using Spectra carbon lotion, and alternating with Laser Toning without lotion in subsequent weekly treatment sessions.

Following your laser melasma treatment, it is very important to properly protect your skin from the sun. Be sure to wear sunscreen every day and reapply as directed. For extra protection, wear a wide-brimmed hat when you are outdoors.
